Joey Alexander is truly a gift from the jazz gods. I was honored to meet Joey and his parents. This
is a very special human being. When I asked his father, "Where did Joey get his talent from?", he simply
pointed up to the heavens. This photo of us was taken minutes after I first heard Joey Alexander live, on
June 20, 2015 during his performance at Hatch Recital Hall at Eastman School of Music in Rochester,
New York, during the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. This gifted jazz child plays with the
utmost maturity, of which many pianists (of all ages) don't achieve! I have had the pleasure of hosting my
jazz radio program, Artistry in Jazz, since 1982 and have never been more moved by any artist
I've met or heard. Let's all enjoy the inspirational musical journey of pianist Joey Alexander!
